What we did

• Custom Shopify theme for a large, technical attachment catalogue
• A fitment engine rather than a filter: choose machine type, make and model, and the store returns only the attachments that physically fit, grouped by category, each card carrying a count of how many variants suit that exact machine
• A compatibility matrix of 119,723 machine-to-attachment combinations across six machine types, because most attachments fit many machines and most machines take many attachments — resolved down to the individual model, so the answer is Kubota U35-4 rather than "excavator"
• The matrix runs on a purpose-built fitment service on AWS rather than a Shopify app, so the dataset can grow with the range instead of being held together by product tags
• The selected machine persists as a dismissible chip for the rest of the session, so the catalogue stays narrowed to what fits instead of resetting on every page
• A second intent layer over the top: filter by activity — brick handling, clearing, compacting, concrete — for buyers who know the job they need done but not the attachment that does it
• Quote-led product pages with mount and tyne-length selection, load ratings, AS certification and downloadable flyers, built to hand a qualified enquiry to a dealer rather than close a cart
• Site architecture and navigation planning across hundreds of SKUs
